Briana's Buys: Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 Zip Clutch

JANUARY 10, 2013

source: amazon.com

It’s been tradition for the last five or so years that every Christmas morning, the one box under my tree from my sister will contain a designer bag. Who’s complaining?! This bag usually ends up setting the tone for my upcoming spring wardrobe transition and what a punch it got this year with a Rebecca Minkoff chartreuse clutch!

Sister said it best: “If you’re going to get this bag, it better be in a COLOR.” This dramatic neon pop is itching to be paired with large spring florals and even my last lingering fall neutrals. As with any other clutch, I like to plan my polish accordingly. Mixing soft shades with acidic hues like this is always fashion forward, making Essie’s Haute As Hello a great choice! Let’s not forget an edgy little cocktail ring as well for a bold, head-turning look.

Sidewalk Chic: Rihanna in Stella McCartney

JUNE 19, 2013

Only Rihanna could pull this off, but the point is that she does.

The pop starlet leaves a club in London wearing this incredibly bedazzled top, bag, shoes, and heaps of statement rings.  Besides her pants, she really did go full-sparkle. Ballsy move! The fact that it’s all working is the most impressive thing! The details are what's pulling this together like a pair of perfectly distressed jeans, or Rihanna's lovely pink lipstick that picks up the disco-ball undertones in this top.

The blouse and bag are Stella McCartney and the shoes are Louboutin, of course. My least favorite piece here is the clutch. Something about this material makes it looks like a super-sized version of those plastic toy purses you give to 6-year-olds. I won’t fault her for it though because I can't imagine that she had an easy time matching anything else to the rest of this look.

Red Carpet: Rooney Mara in J.W. Anderson

JUNE 17, 2013

Rooney Mara looks fresh faced and adorable in this J.W. Anderson ensemble. This is such a minimalist look and Rooney is so at home in it. The styling isn't as dark and edgy and I'm used to seeing the actress in. The result is beautifully youthful and chic.

Admittedly, this isn't an outfit most starlets could pull of. It's fresh off the runway, a little quirky, on on the wrong body type could be incredibly unflattering. That's why it looks so lovely on Rooney. The message is clear: she's one of the few Hollywood style mavens that can pull this off.

How to Style: The Atlantis Collection

JUNE 14, 2013

SOURCE: INPINKSTYLE.POLYVORE.COM

INPINK debuts the Atlantis Collection on Sunday and I love how glamorous this combination of pieces is. These chains, beads, and bold statement ring are incredibly eye-catching so this is a great set of pieces to go “big” with. Use black as a base to really help these colors pop and and rock some edgier pieces like a bustier or high-low skirt.

These pieces are also fantastic for mixing and matching! I could see OPI’s Can’t Find My Czechbook polish and this Layered Chain necklace becoming staples I could wear with tons of looks!

Blogger Love: Janise of Mama In Heels

JUNE 13, 2013

SOURCE: MAMAINHEELS.COM

Janise of Mama in Heels looks very refined and elegant in this white lace dress but her accessories really take this to the next level. Pops of color like her bright nails and Red Marbled Stone necklace give a bold and fun edge to a classic base. I’m also a fan of these gold heels which feel so glamorous worn with gently waved beach hair! Visit Mama in Heels for gorgeous style photos and advice on juggling family and fashion!

Red Carpet: Jane Lynch in Dolce&Gabbana

JUNE 12, 2013

SOURCE: TOMANDLORENZO.COM

Jane Lynch looks so sharp in this Dolce&Gabbana suit and statement necklace! Firstly, these pieces fit beautifully with strong lines that are not overly masculine. I also love the subtly sexy plunging neckline and how this distinctive pendant necklace keeps her decolletage from looking too bare!

My only qualm might be these practical but ungraceful shoes. I get the desire to wear a comfortable heel, but if you can’t find one that’s fashionable, go with flats instead.

If you think Jane looks great like I do, try capturing this look with a crisp blazer, black jeans, and a pendant necklace of your own! This esthetic is classic and great for work or play.

JUNE 12, 2013

SOURCE: MARIEALAMODE.BLOGSPOT.CA

Marie of Marie a la Mode wears statement accessories perfectly by making them the star of the show. Check out how she styles this INPINK yellow bubble necklace. The dramatic black base of her polka dot shirt and pants are perfect for intense pops of color like yellow and bright pink.

Also, with a more subdued heel this would also be a fantastic look for the office that could easily transition for drinks at the bar right after. Take a page from Marie a la Mode and make a bright spring statement while looking sharp and smart!

Red Carpet: Taylor Swift in Oscar de la Renta

JUNE 10, 2013

SOURCE: TOMANDLORENZO.COM

Taylor Swift rocked this Oscar de la Renta ensemble at the 2013 Capital FM Summertime Ball in London! As soon as I saw her I was instantly excited! This look reminds of me of passing a gorgeously styled girl on the street with the exact bag, top, or shoes I didn’t know I had to have. In this case I want the entire look and hair to boot!

Oscar de la Renta is so skilled at making women look strong and sexy it's as if those ideas can't exist without each other. Even so, note that nothing about this outfit is begging for sexual attention. It’s not skin tight or low cut. It’s simply alluring with a lovely vintage touch, and these Office strapy heels and red nail polish are pitch-perfect.

This is definitely a “wow” moment for the recently blooming starlet and a perfectly vampy look from head to toe!

Pre Fall 2013: Alexander McQueen

JUNE 7, 2013

SOURCE: HARPERSBAZAAR

The pre-fall shows have been rolling out to wet our palettes for fashion's most exciting season. Once again Alexander McQueen tops my list of must-see collections! It's full of victorian era-inspired silhouettes and dramatic black and white color schemes. There are also pops of deep magenta and beautiful textiles reminiscent of the gothic period: think ultra-glam Jane Eyre!

I can't wait! This fall try vintage-style jewelry in burnt gold if you're going for this look.
