Spring Fashion Trends: Light Leather
APRIL 15, 2011
Leather may be the go-to fabric for fall but it still has its place in the sun at the beginning of spring. Before the weather becomes too hot, you can still sport a few light leather pieces such as shorts, vests, capri pants, skirts and cropped jackets.
Leathers in oxblood are particularly popular this season. Oxblood is an extremely rich burgundy shade of brown that goes wonderfully with cool blues like cornflower. However, don’t be afraid to go with other traditional leather colors like cream, gray, black, and brown.
For age appropriate leather, anyone can get away with a simple leather capri pant and a boat-neck top with long or ¾-length sleeves. Leather makes a bold statement so you may want to choose more understated accessories and clothing pieces to go with it.
While your jewelry choices really depend on the type of leather piece you are wearing, simple sterling silver jewelry items are always a safe way to go. Drop pendant necklaces are also elegant and understated and will let your best leather take center stage.
