Spring Fashion Trends: Romantic Dresses

MAY 24, 2013

SOURCE: INPINKSTYLE.POLYVORE.COM

Quirky, ironic, and avant garde fashion is truly a sign of the times (thank you Lady Gaga)! I live in a college town so the streets are inundated with the latest colors, trends, and girls trying to out innovate everyone else.

It’s made me a bit nostalgic. No more hipster shades and no more neon (though again, I adore both)! Once in awhile it's nice to pay homage to the “fashion classics” and wear something unabashedly feminine, simple, and chic: a lovely, romantic little dress.

This is a piece which has enough embellishments to be interesting, but is simple enough to let the beauty of a woman shine. I adore shorter dresses that flash a touch of leg with tiered hemlines, or touches of lace. After that soft makeup, simple studs, and comfortable pumps (or flats) are all you need!

Spring Fashion Trends: Bold Lips Meet Bold Gems

MAY 17, 2013

SOURCE: INPINKSTYLE.POLYVORE.COM

Who hasn’t seen this trend and stared longingly? The bold lip is such a classic fashion staple but also remains somewhat elusive. I’ve heard so many stories about failed attempts at achieving this look and complaints that certain colors “don’t look right” with this skin tone or that hair.

I’m here to proclaim: every wasted tube of lipstick is worth it when the result is so fearless and pretty at the same time! Plus, I always encourage girls to buy their makeup from places like M.A.C.who have color-trained specialists and give makeovers to sample their colors. The products aren’t cheap but the value of the perfect summer shade (and the saved time and frustration) is well worth it!

Now, once you’ve got that red, plum, or pretty pink lip you shouldn’t stop there! Pairing statement jewelry with bright makeup is incredibly fresh and right on trend! I especially love a bold mouth worn with pretty rings which is a bit unexpected.  We think of these body parts as so far away from each other, but consider how often we touch our faces during the day. Now, imagine a candy colored smile gently grazed by a hand sporting an art deco hinged ring!

Adorable, isn’t it?

Spring Fashion Trends: Vintage Inspired

MARCH 1, 2013

INPINKSTYLE.POLYVORE.COM

Vintage-inspired outfits are making a comeback! I love this trend, not just because I’m a rabid Man Men fan, but because the esthetics of the 1950s and 1960s are so shamelessly indulgent, feminine and glamorous! While the modern incarnation of this look is more subtle than anything we’ve seen Betty Draper in, it’s still a brilliant way to capture a sense of timeless elegance.

When experimenting with this trend, remember that it follows different rules in regards to makeup and accessories. For instance, matching the color of your shoes to your purse and nail polish is no longer a faux pas. An easy way to rock this style is to build bright jewelry in a single color around an A-line dress. Cap your look with matching lipstick and pin curls!

Spring Fashion Trends: Peek-A-Boo

FEBRUARY 15, 2013

SOURCE: INPINKSTYLE.POLYVORE.COM

"Peek-a-boo" or "cut out" dresses will be very popular this spring and I think every girl should have a flirty variation of one in their closet! It's a clever way to show a pinch of skin and a great departure from the conventional "here's a ton of cleavage" route.

If you're the daring type, try rocking a dress with a large panel out of the back or sides. For the more modest something like this coral River Island dress shows just the barest hint of skin and is subtle, but still scandalous. These dresses come in a ton of variations so there's really a version for anyone!

I'd personally avoid jewelry that's too gaudy or shimmery when accessorizing this look. Instead, exude charm and simple sexiness by rocking dangle earrings or a fun ring!

Spring Fashion Trends: Lemon Yellow

FEBRUARY 7, 2013

INPINKSTYLE.POLYVORE.COM

Lemon yellow is one of Spring 2013's hottest colors. I love it because it's an incredibly fun shade that you have to feel a bit fearless to pull it off.

For a base, try something like this Alice + Olivia Tiered Dress. With its ruffled layers and bustier, it will let the world know you're not afraid of a little attention (or a lot)! If you throw on some sky-high heels in the same bold shade you'll definitely capture the eye-catching, head-turning essense of this trend!

Keep your accessories in a subdued hue like black, or dark blue. They will add contrast and help your ensemble pop even more. The only exception to that might be a bold statement piece like this INPINK Medallion Stretch Ring. Finally, as a general rule, but especially in this instance, strut around like the attention is precisely what you want and don't feel the least bit guilty about it!

Effortless Styling With Denim!

JANUARY 30, 2013

There are few pieces of clothing I love more than my favorite pair of jeans. A thrift shop find, they fit like a glove, my make ass look fantastic and they go with everything.

Most women can relate to the phrase: a great pair of jeans goes with EVERYTHING! You want to dress that pair up with a lacy camisole and a blazer? Or maybe get a bit funky with a graphic tee, some chain necklaces and your hair in a top knot? I've even put dresses over my jeans in the winter!

Especially with the sense of play fashion has really embraced in the past few years, jeans are more than just as staple. They are often the canvas over which we paint whatever new style, mood, or manner we find ourselves in! So go ahead and go crazy with the accessories. Rock studs or chandeliers. Work that big bold bangle, delicate charm bracelet, of chunky choker necklace! Mix and match, take some risks, and most of all: have fun!.

Spring Fashion Trends: Tribal

JANUARY 28, 2013

"Tribal" prints and motifs are so much fun because they bring an unexpected pop of color and life into our wardrobes. Expect to see many of these fun designs crop up this spring as a break from the usual floral fare!

To rock this look all you need is one colorful, eye catching piece like this AX blouse. From there just choose one of the colors in the design and find accessories to compliment it! For instance, I immediately latched onto the vibrant magenta tones in this top and contrasted that with accessories in warmer, earthy tones.

I love this Tommy Hilfiger cardigan which makes the outfit the perfect transition into the still often chilly months of early spring. Besides that these beautiful INPINK earrings also feature a tribal motif which ties back to the blouse and reinforces my overall theme. .

Spring Fashion Trends: Stripes

JANUARY 23, 2013

Stripes are just one of the super-fun trends we can look forward to this Spring.

An easy way to style this look is to contrast its simplicity by incorporating brightly colored, textured accessories. For fun I actually went in the opposite direction with this adorable RAOUL Peplum dress and instead echoed its repetitive, basic pattern by using simple, monochromatic jewelry.

This beautiful INPINK Hammered Squares necklace set features angular shapes and straight lines which subtly mirror the dress' geometric themes. Dark accessories like this Ted Baker Trench, O.P.I. Stay the Night polish, and GUESS clucth, make the bright white in the ensemble pop and lends the look a chic, daring feel.

Spring Fashion Trends: Sweet Dreams

JANUARY 11, 2013

Designers this season have been pushing the envelope with sultry, lingerie-inspired looks that will be sure to pique the interest of your inner seductress. Here are some tips on how to keep this trend tasteful yet dead sexy!

This ALICE by Temperley silk satin dress is the perfect embodiment of this trend with a slinky silhouette and sheer lace that only hints at a little skin. Complete your evening look with delicate, feminine jewelry pieces. Earrings are arguably the sexiest jewelry accessory. Small, lightweight danglers and a shimmering cocktail ring set are really all you need!

And what is flirtier than nude heels? The color says it all! Go with a basic, shiny pair with a slight platform to keep it simple. Then, finish the look with a sparkling clutch and a fabulous manicure! Since this is an evening look after all, a pearly shade like OPI’s Pink Before You Leap is all the more appropriate.

Spring Color Combos: Casual Black And White

JANUARY 4, 2013

Style watchers are abuzz over the all black-and-white looks featured in the Diesel and Alexander Wang 2013 spring collections among others. I know we’ll see a lot of this trend in the upcoming season because of its chic simplicity and accessibility. On the runway this style is ultra-bold. However, its appeal can be translated more casually as seen above with a comfy black-and-white knit top paired with those basic black accessories (scarves, boots, e.t.c...) we girls collect throughout the seasons.

A touch of bright color like O.P.I’s “Deutsche You Want Me Baby” lends this monochromatic landscape a dash of fun pop. Keep your accessories subtly glamorous by incorporating black stones or shimmering silver. These beautiful rhinestone hoops and bangles lend added glamour and sparkle to this basic, daytime look.
